On June 15th Eden Valley Trails presented the grand opening of the newly revamped trail '365' at North Fork Park. As part of the celebration of the completion of their extensive reworking of the trail, there was a ceremonial ribbon cutting attended by Weber County Parks Director Brad Cragen, as well as board member Phil Hanson and Alan Wheelwright Executive Director of Eden Valley Trails. After the cutting, attendees were invited to enjoy the trail for one-hour in a unique one-way directional format. A number of local riders attended, including several riders on adaptive bikes who provided excellent feedback to the trail crew on the changes that had been made to make the trail more accessible for their bikes. In addition to the festivities, Pronghorn Cycles generously donated a mountain bike to be raffled off in support of the trail work, and Daily Rise Coffee provided coffee for all. Feedback from attendants on the new trail was excellent, and the trail crew would like to thank all who took the time to attend, socialize and support the amazing trails and North Fork Park.
The following Monday, the next phase of the summer plans for the trail crew started bright and early. The crew began making their way up the 'Mules Ear' trail. They will work as they go until they reach roughly the midway point where they will begin cutting a brand-new trail over the coming months. This was an exciting opportunity to rehab some sections of the lower, and middle, 'Mules Ear' trail that had suffered a great deal of erosion due to poor drainage when it was initially built. The crew has been working their way up the trail, installing proper drainage and adding movement to what had previously been straight "fall line" sections of trail. This will help not only with water management, but also aid in speed control on this popular multi-use trail. By next week the crew will divert off of 'Mules Ear' and begin the construction of an exciting new trail that will help provide another connection between the South and North ends of the park. Stay tuned for details as that work progresses, and happy trails!
Yes, but the County has final approval on all names. We can only suggest a name.
Are they going to have a naming contest for the new trail? I got the perfect name!! 😊🌲
