Conditions are starting to feel like summer out in the mountains and the crew at Eden Valley
Trails has been hard at work the past few weeks revamping an existing trail named "365" at
North Fork Park. Originally built as a beginner or "green" trail, '365' had deteriorated due to a
number of factors including the primary culprit, poor drainage, causing erosion as the water
follows the path of least resistance down the trail. This had led to a washed out, rocky, and no-
longer beginner friendly trail.
Starting in a clockwise direction from the trailhead, the crew has been completing an extensive
re-work of the trail to help correct drainage problems that were causing unnecessary wear and
tear, and re-imagine many sections of the trail to offer better "flow" and more fun. Another goal
of the project was to slightly widen the trail tread and adjust off-camber and uphill grades to
make access and rideability better for those using adaptive bikes. All of this work has served the
primary goal of restoring the trail to its intended purpose of providing a fun and achievable level
of difficulty for novice riders. Additionally, '365' is a popular trail in the wintertime, and the new
changes will offer the grooming crew for the fatbike and snowshoe season better ability to
maintain it, and should provide for an improved winter riding experience as well.
In addition to the primary project on '365', the crew has also been working to clear downed trees
from this past winter and wind storms, divert water, and open trails around the remainder of
North Fork Park to make sure everything is ready to ride as the summer weather hits its stride.
On June 15th, to celebrate the completion of the work on trail '365', Eden Valley Trails will be
hosting a Grand Opening event at the South gate parking area of North Fork Park starting at
9AM. The trail will be closed to two-way traffic from 9:30 to 10:30 offering the unique
opportunity to take a group ride "tour" of the newly completed trail in a one-way loop. There will
be drinks and light snacks on offer after the ride at the parking area. Eden Valley Trails
encourages everyone to come and check out the new work, and enjoy the rest of the trails in the
park while you're at it. We look forward to seeing the community there.
