Big things to come in 2025

Hello Everyone,

Spring is arriving quickly in Ogden Valley, with the smell of flowers, cut lawns, and fresh rain beginning to fill the air. The crew at Eden Valley Trails (EVT) has already been hard at work for the past few weeks, tackling new and exciting projects for the 2025 season. As we dive into another busy year, we thought it would be a great time to reflect on everything EVT accomplished in 2024—and to build some excitement (ours and yours!) for all that’s ahead.

The early part of 2024 was dominated by two major trail overhauls: the 3.8-mile Sidewinder trail and Trail 365 at North Fork Park. Work on Sidewinder included redesigning much of the trail to improve flow and fun, along with efforts to address water runoff and drainage issues. Trail 365 received a massive overhaul focused on keeping it beginner-friendly, fun, and accessible for adaptive riders.

After completing these “warm-up” projects, the crew tackled the biggest challenge of the year: building the all-new, 4.5-mile multi-use trail called Moose Tracks at North Fork Park. This new trail winds through some of the park’s higher terrain and offers an alternate connection between the southern and northern sections. It features stunning views and fun, optional technical elements designed for riders of all skill levels.

Before wrapping up at North Fork, the crew also built a brand-new half-mile trail called Cutlers Express. This trail adds key connections between existing trails, giving users more options to craft loops while minimizing time spent on road sections.

Following the work at North Fork, and just before the snow started flying, the team headed to Kaysville to build another half-mile trail reconnecting two sections that had been disrupted during infrastructure work. The new section now skirts around newly installed water tanks, restoring seamless connectivity to the network.

In addition to all the new trail construction, the crew stayed on top of regular trimming and maintenance all season long. While it’s the new trails that often grab the spotlight, this behind-the-scenes work is just as vital for keeping trails in top condition and user experiences high.

All told, in 2024 the work added up to:

• 5.5-miles of new trail,

• 5.8-miles of re-worked trail,

• And too many miles of trimming and trail maintenance to count!

Because EVT’s mission is to put as many resources as possible directly into trail work, all this was accomplished without the added expenses of an office, additional staff, or overhead. Approximately 95% of every dollar donated to EVT goes straight into trail building and maintenance, allowing us to make the most of every contribution.

We have some exciting projects lined up for 2025, and we’re committed to continuing our focus on building and maintaining more trails in the area. Watch for updates, and we’ll see you out on the trails!

Happy Trails!
