EVT nearly ready to share North Fork's newest trail, "Moose Tracks"

The crew at Eden Valley Trails have been hard at work these past months moving closer and closer to the completion of an entirely new trail at North Fork Park, tentatively named "Moose Tracks" after the frequent sightings the crew has had with the local fauna.  With roughly three-quarters of a mile of steep and rugged terrain left to go, the goal is to hopefully finish construction by the end of September, which should be just in time for the peak fall colors around the park.

When finished the new trail will be approximately four miles in length, and will take users on a scenic journey through some of the higher elevations and before unseen folds in the contours of the park.  With views that transition from those of Ben Lomond, to those overlooking the entire Eden Valley and Pineview reservoir, the trail offers a little bit of all the best North Fork has to offer.

In addition to all the hard work the EVT crew has been putting into the new trail, they have also been given a helping hand on several occasions thanks to an excellent volunteer community.  One volunteer night session included hauling all the lumber up for a double-decked bridge.  Another evening had volunteers carrying a culvert pipe two-plus miles up trail in order to traverse another drainage encountered along the route.  In addition to these larger volunteer nights, smaller groups and individuals have supplied assistance with clearing brush and trimming the seemingly never-ending roots turned up in the trail building process.  The crew is deeply thankful for the help and enthusiasm of the local trail community!

While wrapping up the new trail is priority number one right now for the EVT crew given the race against the winter weather, that hasn't stopped them from planning some additional projects to try and get completed before the snow starts to fly.  On the to-do list, weather permitting, is a small connecter trail that will link two popular trails ( "Traildemic" and "Jackass")  together without the need to ride on any park roads or doubletrack.  This segment will have the additional benefit of being groomed in the winter for fat biking.  The crew is also hoping to be able to bring their equipment and expertise to a neighboring trail network further south in Kaysville to help with some maintenance there.  Even with an abundance of work still left to do this fall to keep everyone busy, that hasn't slowed the enthusiasm for planning projects for the 2025 trail work season.  More miles of trails, all around the Ogden Valley, are on the agenda and EVT can't wait to share more details soon! Stay tuned on the EVT Facebook/Instagram for more information on the completion of the new trail and its grand-opening celebration, as well as all the exciting upcoming projects. In the meantime, enjoy the wonderfully cooler fall weather and happy trails.
